Frequently asked questions

Common questions about DroneCare Online

Can I add drones to my policy during the year? +
Yes, contact us to add new drones. We'll pro-rate the premium for the remaining policy period.
Do I need a commercial drone licence? +
You need either a RePL (Remote Pilot Licence), or 10+ hours flight experience plus a completed RPAS training course. If you're still in training, you're covered while under official instructor supervision.
What if I own multiple drones? +
You can insure multiple drones on one policy. Each drone needs its own declared value and will have a separate excess.
What if I only fly occasionally? +
If you fly less than 50 days per year, DroneCare 2 Go (short-term) may be more cost-effective.
Is my camera and gimbal covered? +
Cameras and gimbals permanently attached to the drone are covered under hull. Detachable cameras and sensors require the Payload add-on.
Can I fly internationally? +
Yes, worldwide cover is included (excluding North America for products liability, and war zones). Check local regulations before flying overseas.
What if my drone is modified or customised? +
You must declare all modifications. Major changes (upgraded motors, structural changes) may affect your premium or require underwriter approval.
